The main character of the design, "Xamd", is a parasitic-like organic creature according to the official background.

But the actual storytelling is indeed a mixture of mecha-like + retro punk + EVA + urban campus. It would inevitably lead me to think of a "tribute" to <Bio Booster Armor Guyver> serialized in 1991 and animated in 2005, but it seems to be less successful.
